Everyone knows it's windy

Here are some photos of what happened when we got the tropical storm last month. I actually saw the tree fall, which was awesome. And kinda scary. More awesome though.

We lost power for 3 days which sucked but we didn't lose too much food and had the lowest electricity bill yet. All is good now. We are in full Fall mode with the yard. We just emptied the pond and took in all our patio furniture. W just did what I think will be the last mow of the season.

I'm just waiting for the last of the leaves to fall before putting a rake in my hand.

Happy house Anniversary

It's been a year since we bought our house. Paint and some new rugs this past year. New furniture and cutting down old trees this year.

I haven't been in the writing mood as of late. I'm sure when the weather gets cold and I'm stuck inside life will get more interesting and I'll write more.

I can't promise that though.

We had a party last week and stupid Irene ruined it. THEN we lost power for 2 days. We didn't lose too much food. Though our grocery store has no perishable food right now so we've been trying to find open restaurants. That's been an epic failure.

That's what's been going on for the past few weeks.

Grampa

Hello to my 4 followers.

Last week my Grandfather past away. He was 95. He was one of the most awesomest people I've ever met. I am so lucky to be related to someone that great.

All my memories of him are so dear. He once played Mr. Sandman for a straight hour for my sister and I. He had the best whistle, I could listen to him all day. I don't even know if it was a song or just something in his head. I will always think of him when I see Raisin Bran (his favorite). Also pineapple because when I was little my grandmother told me that it was his favorite and he didn't get if very often because it came from Hawaii. She made it sound so exotic. Perhaps they were back then, who knows.

He was the only man I knew who colored his hair. Now that I think of it, he still is the only man I know that colored his hair. Did I mentioned he drove a Harley and owned his own car repair shop?

He only stopped lifting weights and working out when he turned 90. He fought in WWII. He has traveled more than me. Of course when I travel Europe, I won't be looking for Nazis.

I will miss him terribly. I thank God for the time I had with him and how much he has taught me. I love you Grampa.

My Summer project

I'm not sure if I mentioned I was stripping my Dad's old dresser. I am so happy how it came out. I actually did this about a month ago but haven't had the chance to post them. Plus I didn't want to steal any of W's thunder. Please don't comment on the paper plates. I didn't think the picture looked classy enough and then I remember that paper plates can add class to anything. I think it's proven here.

The last few weekends were chuck full of stuff. Last weekend my friend U got married. I was in the wedding. I even wrote a best woman speech. I was NOT the best woman, it was a duel job. My bestie S and I were the bridesmaids. The speech was from both S and I. She's just not a public speaker. Me - get a few in me and I can do a speech like the best of them. There was a belly dancer, yes, belly dancer. I think it's funny to see people try to belly dance. Including me. The bride actually took lessons a very long time ago so she knew what she was doing.

This past weekend I went to visit my Grandfather. He turned 95 last Tuesday. He and my Grandmother are amazing people. This means I have amazing in my blood. Watch out world.

With Flowers

I went out to Mohegan Sun for U's bachelorette party and when I got home I had this for a suprise.

OK, I didn't see it when I got home - technically since I stayed at my Mom's house that night. BUT when I got home in the morning W told me what he had done.

I think my man has a green thumb.

two months

It's been pretty much 2 months since our last blog. Life's been busy.

First and the best is that we've been doing a lot of playing outside. The back yard needs a lot of TLC so we've been spending every free moment on the weekends outside. W has been doing AWESOME. Check out the rock wall he built. We are both so happy to sit out on our deck and have dinner without someone walking by or our AC unit turning on so we can't hear each other talk.

Work has been super busy. The other designer I work with is no longer with company so it's just me designing. Very busy. OH and the company just got a new logo. I've been pulling 45+ hours. I try not to stress because in reality, it's not what's important.

I ran the Worcester half marathon. 2 minutes slower than the Salem but Worcester is a hell of a lot hillier than Salem. I'm please. I ran with a friend from high school. She was awesome to run with, she sang (out of tune) and kept telling me not to make her laugh because she would fall down. Good times.

Last Tuesday I had to say goodbye to my cat Pooh. She was diagnosed with kidney failure a few months ago though she was doing well but then took a turn for the worse. It was very hard saying goodbye. I will miss her dearly. I'm tearing up right now.

She was the most wonderful cat. She loved to give hugs and LOVED to eat. She could say the name Jed (so it sounded). She was so patient especially if there were kids around or needed to take medicine. I could never say no to petting her because of her cute little face. She loved sitting under the Christmas tree. The minute it went up she'd go running underneath. As a kitten she loved to watch reruns of Beverly HIlls 90210. Perhaps she had a crush on Brandon.

She's now in kitty heaven having all the treats she wants.
