More mess

W back again. Wearing my ice skates to work today. Everything is covered in ice. Sidewalks, Roads, and parking lots. Should make for an ugsome drive.

Everyone in and around the northeast be careful. Those of you in the sunny spots, send us warm thoughts. (oh geez now I'm rhyming.)

Here's hoping everyone stays safe no matter where you are.

Words

W back again. I was reading a book about the history of the English language, which while it doesn't sound exciting the author was really good and made the book pretty funny. In the course of the book the author talks about how words come and go in the language some stick others fade away. One of the words he mentions that faded away is "ugsome" which means frightful or loathsome. I think this is a great word, if you had now idea what the word meant and I said "That was ugsome" you would know exactly what I was talking about. The word just sounds like it should mean loathsome.

I am now going to start using ugsome in everyday speech. I want a resurgence of this word in our language. Join me in bringing back this perfectly good word to modern English. The next time you're describing something frightful or loathsome give ugsome a try.

Like "Some of W's ideas are truly ugsome."

See how easy it is.

A big commitment

I've recently joined facebook and I've connected with many friends from my past. We all started talking about our running and how we should all do a race together. At first we were talking 5k and 10k races which I what was going to do this year anyways. Well, someone threw out the idea that we should a half marathon. The one that does half marathons often might I add.

So now, I'm going to train for a half marathon. The longest I ran last year was 6 miles. I now have to double that (and then some)! Eek, so much training. Can I really do it? There's one girl who lives not to far from me so we'll do our long runs together on the weekend.

From other comments I've read I'm guessing I'm not alone to wondering if I can do it but is up for the challenge. I'll keep you posted on how well my progress is going.

Snow again

W back writing again. Well another snow storm hits the Northeast and the only people who are happy about it are the plow drivers. They are making some good money this year, while the rest of us are hoping for an early spring. Well at least I'm hoping for an early spring.

Nothing much going on here. The cousins and brother came over for cards yesterday. Good day had by all, except me who was the big loser. At least I still had fun. When we're together it gets really loud as 4 voices fight for dominance, because as the old family adage goes, "He who is loudest must be right." Poor E was stuck in the house with us all day having to suffer through it. Well she knew what she was getting into when she married me.

Now everyone chant with me "NO MORE SNOW!!!" "NO MORE SNOW!!" "NO MORE SNOW!!" Who knows it might work.

Cold enough for ya??

Anyone living in the Northeast knows what I'm talking about. It was a balmy -2° this morning in Franklin. I totally skipped the gym and it was only because it was too cold out. So did W. I'm not sure if he did it for the same reason though, he might've just saw that I didn't go and decided to stay in too.

What do you do when it's this cold out? Well, the weekend is finally here and I'm just going to stay in and relax. I have been on my own at work for the last three weeks because the wife of designer I work just had a baby. Work has been a little stressful but thankfully that's over with. I can't wait to sleep in late tomorrow. W has to work so I get the bed to myself in the morning. I'm hoping I can at least sleep past 7.

I plan on working on the two quilts I'm making for my nephews. I started cutting the material only to find out I didn't get enough. Math is so not my forte. I'm hoping to finish the quilts this weekend.

W is having his brother and cousins over for a card game on Sunday. It will get very loud in my house so I may need to find a save haven to go to for a few hours. At least it will be warm out by then. It's supposed to reach 30°.

Taking a look

We had people over tonight to see the condo. The prospective buyer email me last week and said it was what he was looking for. Thanks to M for stopping on by and keeping me company just in case the guy was crazy or something.

Well, the guy wasn't crazy and brought his fiance with him. I don't think they were really interested, they were probably here for about 10 minutes. The decision to buying a condo isn't usually made in 10 minutes. I'm kinda bummed but on the other hand happy that someone did come and take a look.

Someone else emailed me but they haven't replied back to my email. Why must they tease?

Snow Again

W back again. More snow in the forecast for the weekend. I am now officially done with winter. I need warm weather and bare ground so I can golf. The snow needs to stop now, so come March the ground will be ready for my Golfing and the Red Sox.

Why does everyone rush to the store and buy 6 weeks worth of food every time it snows??? I have never been stuck in my house unable to get to a store for more than 3 days. Those 3 days were back in the blizzard of 78. Every other snow storm since that time (The past 30 + years) I have had acces to food and the grocery store within a day or 2. So unless you think milk makes a good de-icer. Stop buying 8 gallons every time it snows!!!!!!!

This was a Public Service announcement please stand by for your regularly scheduled blog.

Like a fish

Monday was my first day of swimming. I did pretty well, better than I expected. My goggles kept filling up with water so that was a bit frustrating. I swear I have the biggest head. Anyways, I'm very surprised to find my body not in excruciating pain though my throat hurts and I'm wondering if it's because I left the gym without drying my hair. In all fairness, I did wear two winter hats.

I took today off but it's back in the pool tomorrow. Hopefully I won't swallow as much water as yesterday. Ew.

That extra second

I decided I was going to use that extra second for sleep. We didn't stay up until midnight but to no surprise, it was the new year anyways when we woke up. Yesterday was a very relaxing day for us. The only thing we did was shop for new appliances. No luck there. We decided if we can sell our old oven and refrigerator we'll get new ones. Check out craigslist.

W has to work today so I'm on my own. He also has to work on Saturday. He has convinced his brother and cousin to play WOW so I don't think I'll be involved in his plans at anytime this weekend.

I really need to start my sister W's quilts for her twins. Perhaps that will be my plan for the weekend.
