I did it! I finished my first 10k in 1 hour and 6 minutes. It's a 10:40 minute mile. I don't think I could have done a better job especially in that heat. I didn't make my goal but I also hadn't been running in 85 degree weather when I was training. Some one past out during the race. I continually hydrated myself in fear of the same thing happening to me. I did have to walk for about 5 minutes but I was glad because I got my second wind.
Highlights from the race: (1) W came with me for support. Him being there helps me out greatly and I love him for it. (2) I got to the 5th mile and I thought "wow, I'm doing lousy". I thought I was at the 4th mile. What a great feeling that was to know I only had 1.4 not 2.4 miles to go. (3) They had spray stations throughout the race. Cooled me right down.
I don't have any pics from the race but here's the t-shirt design, my time, and my number.
To my friend B - note who was supporting the race.

Also B I went there was no beer, so now you owe me a beer. Heck E owes me a beer too.

Congratulations E!!! I was thinking about you all day wondering how you did! Mom said there was a road race on her street today (part of it was blocked off) and Jason thought you ran here from your area....he's been up late feeding babies the past couple of nights so we'll just let that one go ;)
LOL about the 4th, no wait, 5th mile!! ;)
Congratulations W for tagging along! (you probably trained hard for the moral support so I figure you should be included in the thumbs up - tee-hee ;)

Thank you everyone for your support. I totally needed it today!
E -- so funny about the sponsor. Apparently P ran in the wrong race today. :) Good job -- now which half are you going to do?? J/K... enjoy this one for a bit first!
W -- I didn't PROMISE there would be beer... but if you come visit, beer will be yours! Ok, and hopefully when we come out in September too. Glad you went! C will feel your pain next Sunday.
